Facts
Built in 1856
Rev. Hitchcock oversaw the building of this Federal Style home, using locally sourced sandstone, limestone, walnut, & oak. Much of the home is original. The House is now a living history museum.
A National Historic Landmark
The House earned the distinction of being a National Historic Landmark in 2006. The House is also on the Register of National Historic Places, & a site on the National Park Service Network to Freedom.
Echoes of the past
Visitors can enter into the basement through the same door that freedom seekers would have used.
Open for tours May 1-September 15
Guided tours are given daily starting at 1pm and last tour starting at 4:15. Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays.
Opening day is May 1. Last day is September 15.
